Maybe add an opening…describe what problem are you solving…
When we went through the option selection process we had to make many individual decisions but we wanted to ensure we were consistent with our choices so we have a cohesive boat in the end. We decided to select three attributes that would define Awen. We got the idea from prodcut design principles that Outremer also uses as they design a brand new boat. It provides a clear direction during the design process and it helps communicate the essence of the project.
After a lot of brainstorming we came up with the following three attributes that were important to use when we were making decisions on our boat:
We wanted to keep it light and relatively simple. Lean to us is defined being a harmonious equilibrium between the vessel's design and the water, as we wanted to accomplish good weight distribution and simplistic elements to help the boat perform its best.
Modern refers to contemporary design and technology, and we wanted to incorporate the latest innovation and materials available.
This isn’t a technical term, but a mindset of courage and bold ability to take on a circumnavigation with confidence. Badass describes a vessel that exudes confidence. A badass boat describes high-performance capabilities and the ability to tackle challenging conditions with ease. It embodies safety, seaworthiness, coolness and a no-nonsense attitude.
Need to describe how it helped us….
A good example to illustrate this process was the decision about our boat logo.

In the end, we felt these key attributes helped us a lot to make difficult decisions and now we feel AWEN matches these traits.
Now we might need to define three new keywords around our cruising lifestyle so we remain consistent with our cruising decisions. ‘Lean’ might be tough to live by the longer we stay in France with its amazing food.
